The Sovereign Hand of God
“ The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.”
Proverbs 21:1
While it is true that God respects human free will, a greater truth shines through when we pray: nothing is impossible for Him.
When the Church unites in earnest intercession for our leaders and nations, God moves miraculously. Proverbs 21:1 reveals a profound reality—the Lord holds ultimate sovereignty over the hearts of rulers. He can direct and influence their decisions to fulfill His divine purposes, turning them “whithersoever He will.”
Intercession in Action: Abraham and Lot .
We see this same grace in Abraham’s intercession for his nephew, Lot. When Sodom faced destruction, Lot hesitated. Yet, Genesis 19:16 tells us that the angels grabbed the hands of Lot, his wife, and his daughters, leading them to safety. Why? Because God remembered Abraham’s faithful prayers.
These scriptures remind us of the immense power of intercessory prayer. God hears His people and works far beyond our human understanding. Let us never grow weary in praying for our President, government leaders, and all those in authority. May we rely on the Holy Spirit to guide our prayers, trusting completely in God’s sovereignty, mercy, and power to move.
God bless you. Amen.
